I have gone to the hop for quite a few years now and it has always been the same. There were always tables that were behind or in front of us that were not cleaned off yet. The food has always been good, but the servers just seem to look like the day has dragged on or they dreaded working that day. Thenlast time I went the manager and server took 10 minutes to pay my check, which was a waste of time. I will still go back, but get to go instead.
Tried to eat here (Waited 15 min. without being seated). A young girl was working both the register and hostess stand, I assume anyway. During the 15 min. we waited no one ever came to the hostess stand. The girl at the register kept saying she would check on seating once she dealt with a line of people who were waiting to pay. She waited on about a line of 6 people and then shortly after some more people came to pay and she didn't even acknowledge the 3 groups of people waiting to be seated and decided to check the next person out instead. We even saw a manger during our time of waiting walk by and she didn't even attempt to help the poor girl doing both of these jobs even though I'm pretty sure the manager saw all of us waiting to be seated. I saw the manager instead check on a table of people who were eating and then she just walked back toward the kitchen. Please also note there were many tables open and available, my husband ended up walking around the corner to look and upon seeing all the empty tables asked if we could just seat ourselves but the young girl said we couldn't do that and had to wait to be seated. After this we left because by the way she was handling things we probably wouldn't have been seated until she checked everyone in the restaurant out. Perhaps it's a good sign though based on the other reviews of this place, probably won't attempt to eat here again.
The food is decent, as is service. They sadly no longer serve cranberry juice. This was at 4-5am, so good for the time. Good BLT, but one of the fries had the odd taste of chlorine.
Just left after waiting an hour and still hadn't received our food. In that hour the waitress never checked on us, but a manager kept telling us it would be just a few more minutes, when in reality our meal wasn't being made. Finally decided to leave and now we're eating at Waffle House getting excellent service. We keep giving IHOP chances and each time we're disappointed. For some reason they are always behind and make their customers wait forever to get simple breakfast food. Never coming back.
If you avoid the busy hours, the service is great. Good food, nice staff, decent prices. Forever craving IHOP pancakes!
